Just want to thank all of you that helped me with tid bits of info.I would like to take the time to say that I was found out a few months ago that my grandfather was in WWII on the USS Saratoga. I yet have to get his military records, but I immediately starting researching the USS Sara when I found a website that I could email living veterans, There is a News letter that is published Quartely called the "Uss Sara Log" the publisher was nice enough to put my email in that Newsletter and LOW AND BEHOLD, I was contacted by my Grandfathers Good Friend off of the ship. He wrote me a 10 page letter about their time on the ship and he provided me with 2 pictures of my grandfather (until I recieved those pictures from him I had no idea of what my grandfather looked like)! So what I would like to say is yes.. get the military records.. but take it a step further and research the Camps, Ships or what ever. We still have living vets from WWII but sadly they wont be around long. I found out more info from him then I could in my grandfathers military records, I actually got personal stories and it was amazing. Good Luck to all researchers, And may Gob Bless All Vets!!
