Hi, everyone - I may have posted here a very long time ago.Have been reading through all the postings but have decided it could take weeks (months? years?) to get thru them all so am hoping someone here can help me.My dad served in the Army Air Corps during WWII.He, like so many, NEVER talked about it.He's gone now and I've reached the age of wanting to know more.I've applied for his records to the NARA, but they so far have found nothing. While speaking with a cousin of his just last night, I found out info I had never known before. He apparently enlisted September 1940 - in Missouri. He did his training at Keesler Field in Mississippi. And here's the good part I just found out - He apparently was a crew member on one of 17 B17s that left California (don't know where) on his way to the South Pacific, with the first stop in Hawaii.Apparently he was just outside of Honolulu when Pearl Harbor was bombed, and (my cousin thinks) two of the B17s crashed. My dad's plane and crew survived.
Please - if anyone can help me find people who may have known my dad, or if anyone can help me find my dad's military records - or steer me in the right drection - I will be ecstatic!I have his discharge paper, but even with that the archives have not been successful, so far, in finding his records.
My apologies for the length of this post - thank you in advance!!Feel free to e-mail me at firstname.lastname@example.org
