Hello again, Mr. Morini!

Your more complete summary pretty well gibes with my previous assumptions and comments.
Right now, I am looking at the 45ID G-2 Overlay depecting the invasion of Sicily, dated 10 July 1943.
It shows the division convoy location as unloading takes place, then moves inland, with the 180th IR moving in the direction of Biscari.
The regiment gained comfort by the presence of 179th IR on its right flank, but was discomforted, I'm sure, by the presence of the Hermann Goring Division along most of its left flank.
Mind you, this was D-Day,and their initiial combat experience.
If interested, I will be pleased to mail a copy of this
document. I'd Scan/Forward, but I haven't mastered the scan part yet.
May I have a mailing address ?
Have you contacted the V-A for his medals ? They are treasures.
Meantime, I am trying to locate Venefro , and may be able to relate something pertaining to the actual action there,
15 Nov 43.
