GOMEZ -- David R. Gomez, a resident of Albuquerque since 1950, died on Monday, March 2, 1998. He is survived by his wife, Emma Gomez of the family home; children, Stephen Gomez of CA, James Gomez and wife, Cindy of CA, Lawrence Gomez and wife, Sue of St. Louis, MO, and Richard Gomez of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Matthew, Gregory, Andrea, Jerod, Aaron, Rachel, Sam, Isaac, and Eli; great-grandchildren, Bryce and Julia; sisters, Stella Valencia of El Rancho, NM, Amalia Martinez of Santa Fe, NM, Ermalinda Herrera and husband, Joe of Santa Fe, NM, and Rose Lujan of Albuquerque; sister-in-law, Frances Gomez; and brother, Elfego Gomez, Jr., and wife, Elsie of Colorado Springs, CO. Mr. Gomez was preceded in death by his parents, Elfego and Candelarita Gomez; and son, Andrew Joseph Gomez. He was a graduate of St. Michaels High School, Santa Fe, NM, Regis College, Denver, CO, and the NM State Police Academy. Mr. Gomez proudly served his country in the Navy during World War II. He was a charter member of Holy Ghost Parish where he was active in various parish ministries. He was also active at the St. Vincent de Paul Society and the VITA tax assistance for the poor. Rosary will be recited Thursday, at 9:30 a.m. at Holy Ghost Catholic Church, 833 Arizona SE. Mass will follow the Rosary at 10:00 a.m., with Father Joe D. Vigil Celebrant. Interment will follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery, Santa Fe, New Mexico, at 1:00 p.m. Friends may visit French Mortuary, Lomas Blvd. Chapel, 10500 Lomas NE, Wednesday from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Vincent de Paul Society, 714 4th St. NW, Albuquerque, NM 87102.
