An Army C-47 transport plane disappeared in Nov 1947. It took 8 months for the plane to be found - in the Alps abt 55 miles south of Turin, Italy. (per 1 newspaper report). Among those on this plane was my husband's uncle, T/Sgt Harmon Newell.
There is supposedly an airport or a military base that named their streets in honor of the people killed in this crash. Depending on which report, you believe, there was a score of or 22 people..
Memorial services were conducted at Rhein-Main airport (which we have been told is now closed) in Aug 1948. The bodies were then shipped back to the U.S.
We are trying to find _any_ documention that will_prove_ that somewhere in Germany there IS a street named *NEWELL*.
