Re: 1944-45 Army GO#'s
Can someone out there, from the American Armed Forces, help me out? I'm a Canadian relative,of someone who fought during the Second World War."ALL" I know-from talking to other relatives, is that: his name was Steve(n?) F. Purdy, who had changed his name, from Forbes Lunn, born in Ontario, Canada. Apparently,Forbes ran into some kind of problems on this side of the border, then headed South. He legally changed his name (at least this is what I've been told),to Steve(n) F. Purdy.I think there's a son,of Steve(n)'s out there, somewhere. This is all I know--does the name Purdy,or Purdie, ring any distant bells with any veterans out there? Steve,or rather Forbes, received 2 Purple Hearts. For what action--I don't know.I'm just trying to track this person down, for Family reasons. The other item I was told, was that,Steve(n),or Forbes, was buried at a Military Cemetary,in New York State.I've tried "other avenues", with no luck, whatsoever.I'm hoping, that somewhere, out there, someone recognises the name, and the story of Steve(n) Thanks.
