Mary, I did some poking around online and from what I found I'm thinking we may have some inconsistencies in spelling of the surname. See if you concur.
I could find a listing for Richard Humnick in neither the National Archives WWII casualty database, nor the ABMC WWII database.
However, I found Richard Paul Humenick (note the different spelling) listed in the Archives, under Casualties from World War II for Navy, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard Personnel from Minnesota. Info there is as follows:
HUMENICK, Richard Paul, Pfc, USMCR, Parents: Mr. and Mrs. Mike Humenick, 704 Monroe St, NE, Minneapolis.
In addition, I found this listing in an online cemetery database:
HUMENICK, RICHARD PAUL PFCUS MARINE CORPS WORLD WAR II DATE OF DEATH: 05/11/1945 BURIED AT: SECTION B-1SITE 433-S FT. SNELLING NATIONAL CEMETERY 7601 34TH AVENUE SOUTH MINNEAPOLIS, MN 55450
