Louie Franklin Turner: My thanks for your time and efforts in helping me put together some of the pieces on what was indeed "THE GREATEST GENERATION" and with your premission I will pass on one more story that I just found this evening.
This was written by a friend of my uncle after his death. "He said he had a rough time weaning himself off the drugs that were available by the handful in the hospital in England and when he returned to his unit in France he transferred to an Airborne Unit that dropped behind German lines pinpointing positions-strengths, etc and making contact with resistance groups. While searching caves in France they found an entire family hiding out in one (he had a picture of the family)and a treasure trove in another."
There is a picture of him at Camp Barkley, Texas and he did indeed start with the 90thID and recounted some incidents of the landing on Utah. Againthanks for indulging me and for all your assistance. Wayne
