Hello Louie and Jack,Hope you and your loved ones are in good health.About Armistice Day before WW II.That was a big day in Dallas. We had five high schools in Big D and practically everyone of the boys were in ROTC. In those days if you were not in ROTC you were considered a bit wierd.I think that now days it's just the opposite.Every Nov 11 the schools were out and we had a huge military parade in downtown Dallas. If I am not mistaken, I believe there were over a two thousand cadets in the parade and also the Texas National Guard cavalry. And for some damn reason my company always had to march behind the cavalry. We trained and carried the old 1903 30.06 Springfield, one of the best military rifles ever made..next to the German Mauser. I entered ROTC at the age of 13 and darn near croaked when i first put on that wool uniform, which we had to wear every school day.Les
