Re: Hiroshima Japan, 6 August 1945.
Hello Les (and Jack) and ALL who sacrifice(d) for us - When your generation is gone, you will still be remembered by your sons and daughters. And THEIR sons and daughters who are STILL volunteering, fighting, and dying to help provide freedom even for those who are blind to the evils that are subverting our culture today. I am a son of a Ret. Navy lifer (1939-1960) who saw much action during WWII and after, and I have always been proud of him. I bought into the peace movement and anti-war rhetoric of the late 60's until I witnessed these same "peace-lovers" spitting and throwing rocks at returning Viet Vets. Even at the age of 15, I realized that what my father fought for went both ways. If I wanted to support a person's right to dissent against the war, then I also had to support a person's right to agree to go and fight (or go to Canada). Today, I have nothing but pride and admiration for our ALL VOLUNTEER military who choose to fight not on our own beaches, but wherever those who hate us and wish to destroy us hide. It seems that the whole world and half the folks in our own country hate us, but I don't think that is true. It just takes time for the world to realize that history DOES REPEAT itself when we do not learn from our mistakes and/or inaction. A reminder to the left-wing sillies who believe that we can sit down and "talk" to the little "adolphs" of the world, and they will then leave us in peace. Isolationism did not work before or after WWI. "Talking" and "appeasement" did not work with the nazis. Sanctions and payoffs did not and will not work with terrorists. Back to the bomb. I for one am sorry that any living thing had to experience a nuclear explosion. I pray that no one will ever suffer through one again. But sometimes, in order to end a nightmare, a hard decision must be made. Could it be that the left-wing is feeling guilty that a Democrat (albeit 'conservative-dem' by todays standards) dropped TWO bombs. (How many Republicans have used the nuclear option?). This country was founded on a need and desire for, and a love of FREEDOM. Millions of people that believe in that FREEDOM have come here from every country in the world. We have not-yet-citizens fighting in our military because they believe in that FREEDOM. This is what makes this country GREAT. This is what makes so many other countries emulate us. This is why we will still be here when the smoke clears and the lunacy ends. Thanks for letting me blather on. “Charles A. Alston” – proud son of the American Revolution (decendant of Col. Philip Alston and Temperance Smith Alston)
