Sorry it has taken so long for a follow up. I am just getting info. The 787th was in Ft Meade , MD from April, 1943, to Dec. , 1943. It shipped from New York on the Queen Mary to the Firth of Clyde. It was then based in London until Sept, 1944. Then it was assigned to security duties in Paris. The archivist at Ft Leonard Wood has some documents concerning this. While at Ft Meade, the unit got its specialist training. It also escorted POW trains carrying Afrika Corps prisoners to POW camps. In London they provided security for government installations and helped the local police in air raid situations. In Paris they provided security and police services. They also worked in CID operations against the black market. This is what I have found out so far. Hop you get this message.
