James, like many who post here I am a hobbyist and not an expert. However, I did have a couple of thoughts that I hope would be helpful. First, if they have a vet association that is active and you can, indeed, contact them, they would probably be your best source of info. Second (if, as your inquiry suggested, you are interested in the Battalion's service in North Africa) online info would suggest they reinforced the 3rd Infantry Division during that operation. For instance, into at the Center for Military History shows them as attached to the 63rd Infantry Division 11 Feb 45-1 May 45. This, of course, would not have been in North Africa since the dates are wrong for that campaign. In addition, the 63rd ID served only on the European continent.
