"You can request his Individual Deceased Personnel File (IDPF) at the following address: U.S. Army Human Resources Command, ATTN: AHRC-PAO (FOIA), 200 Stovall Street, Alexandria, VA 22332-0400.
I have gotten IDPF's for my cousins, who died during WWII and Korea. It usually takes about six months to recieve.
Included in these files are the date, place and how he died. Some can be gruesome (just a warning)."
And I don't know if you would be able to get his military records from the NPRC in St. Louis.Worth a try.And if they tell you they burned, fill in the other papers they send you and provide as much info as you can and send it in again.Complete the Form 180...and have his brother sign it if he is still with us as I think that may speed things along.
