For what it is worth, I provide the following:
I sailed out of Hampton Roads, VA, as a replacement, aboard the newly commissioned U.S. Navy troop ship, GENERAL W.P. RICHARDSON, the morning of 14 Jan 45...destination: Naples, Italy.
The ship was manned by Coast Guard personnel, along with a detachment of Marines, who were there for security duty.
