Re: 148th Field artillery Battery A WWII
Hi Gary, I looked in my files and found that my dad was in the 41st division of Battery A 148th Field Artillery. He was out of Camp Murray in Fort Lewis, WA in 1941. Their ship was one week out of Pearl Harbor before it was bombed and they had to stop mid ocean to color the boat grey. They spent time in Fiji, Darwin Bay in Australia and New Guinea. That is all I really know. My mother gave me this information earlier this year and all I really know. My mother has lots of pictures. I know my dad was once on a practice maneuver and was hit by fragments of a grount mine and was blinded for period of time. He was covered with bandages. My mother has the picture showing him this way and she does have a lot of pictures of him with several fellow servicement in different locations. Please let me know if any of this fits with your dad's locations or experiences.
