82nd Airborne/9th engineer/Purple Hearts/June 1944
I am trying to find anyone with any information or documents containing morning reports or information from field hopsitals where purple hearts were issued. My grandfather has recieved the purple heart but has no records of it, I need a field report or written proof that this medal was issued. As these medals are now available sadly, in local pawn shops, I have to have army documentation. I have contacted many organizations including st. louis NPRC, as well as filling a 180 form, and writing to my local senators, all with no results. Here is is information:
Max E. Bowen Jr.
82nd Airborne/9th engineer
Jumped into normandy and Germany all in 1944
Awarded the purple heart in a field hosptial in what we think was omaha beach or Normandy. A morning report would be great, He jumped into normandy 6/6/1944
A couple of the contacted organizations mentioned a fire that destroyed many records but I have to find something, any help would be great.
Thanks again:)!!!
