Hi, all vets and family of vets. I am proud to say my grandfather was in the USMC, andwas quite a man to get to know.I miss him dearly and wish to know more of his service. He had been honorably discharged and recieved a honorable service button issued at MB. NTS. Great Lakes, IL on 2 Feb 44. I'm trying to find out wht group he was in and where all he had served. I have a MC number but was told it had been wriiten down with too many numbers. The paper that was given to me is signed
A. C. Larsen A. C. Larsen LT COL USMC Commanding Marines Retired
My grandfather passed away on December 2, 1983 in Brandon, FL He had served as a Chaplin in the VFW Hall close to his home in Brandon, FL. My grandfather's name is Charles C. Lindenschmidt -he had lived at 306 North Moon Ave. in Brandon, FL.
Any help in locating information concerning his service in the USMC and as Chaplin in the VFW Hall up untill Dec 1983 would be greatly appreciated. I miss him dearly and have been trying to get information from several family members who have been very busy that they couldn't help me.
I have a poem he wrote and wish to honor him by the framing of his military picture, service record and his poem. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I plan to make copies of the poem, picture and his service information for each of his surviving kids.Had hoped to do this for Christmas for them.
I'm glad I got to know him for a while. and I stress to my kids the importance of showing any and all veterans the respect they deserve for all they did for our freedom of country and life.
