Re: 82nd or 101st?
From what you posted and from what I read (all day today!),
my brother-in-law was first in the 17th then the 82nd.
My reasoning:He arrived in Europe 31 May 1944.Decorations were: Victory Medal, American Theater Ribbon,
European-African-Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon w/1 Silver Battle Star, Bronze Service Arrowhead, 2 Overseas Service Bars and Good Conduct Medal.Lapel button issued:
ASR Score (2 Sep 45) 68. And, he was in the Ardennes (Battle of the Bulge).
I know he was in Italy because when we all vacationed in Europe, he would not visit Italy, saying he hated the Italians for betraying his group when they entered a village/town and were greeted with food and wine, then "ratted" on them to the German soldiers who were nearby, causing many casualties.
Well, I guess that's what I'll include in my genealogy
