Grandparents records: Need help understanding things!
Hi there, I've scanned my grandparents records and am trying to decipher a few things. I've done some research on my own and found out quite a bit about my grandfather's unit and unit activities, but some things still are a bit fuzzy. I was wondering if someone here could help.
He was in the 135th Infantry Regiment, 34th Infantry Division, and served in Italy from March of '44 to October of '45. He was wounded on July 1st of '45, from a grenade as my family has told me, and he spent some time in the hospital
Here's a few questions I have:
"Specialty: Personnel Technician 502" What exactly was his role in this position? I assume it's some sort of desk job, but is there a specific purpose?
What does "GO 33 & 40 WD 45" stand for? It's written above his three campaigns
Served in "50th General Hospital Co" as a Librarian (055). She never left the states, and as my family has told me, drove a jeep for a time.
I've found some info about the 50th General Hospital Division, but it seems they were shipped to Europe, yet somehow she stayed here. Can anyone shed some light on her service or what outfit more specifically she was in?
Thank you to anyone who can provide any info.
