Re: WWII photos
My father's name is Dr. Wesley Alan Childs. His Honorable Discharge papers show Wesley Alan Childs 0 480 217 CAPT MC - USAR. He was discharged April 1,1953. He was from the Borough of Berlin, NJ. I have a memorial book of his that is titled " Berlin Borough In The Second World War 1941-1945". In it he is listed as Wesley Alan Childs, Major, 0-480217. Entered U.S. Army February 11, 1944. Served in Medical Corps, 1253 Engineer Combat Battalion and 250th Station Hospital. Campaighns: Rhineland, Central Europe. Ribbons: European theater of Operations and Army of Occupations. Foreign service 2 years. Discharge October 2, 1946 at Camp Meade, Md.
My Dad had started a written account of his life before he died. It says he was put on active duty as a battalion surgeon. He spent a few months in Louisianna then sent to a 6 month study at Mayo Clinic, Rochester, Minn. Then to a few months stay at a Charleston, SC military hospital and assigned to the 1253rd Eng. Combat Battalion. They spent 6-8 months in a town in South England instructing other battalins on how to erect Baily Bridges. He tells more of his active duty and such.
I have to say it is all confusing to me and would like to fit all the information I have together as well as try to get some photos collected that may have him in them Any help would be greatly appreciated.
