Grave (21 Nov 1944) with no name
In Enschede, we have a war cemetary. There are two graves over there with no name on it (death dates are 21 Nov 1944 and 31 March 1945).
Because we did some research we think that we've found the person who's buried in one of them. So I don't need any information about that grave.
The other grave contains the body of "an Airman of the 1939-1945 war. Royal Air Force, 21st November 1944".
I've done a little research and I've found a crash on 21st November 1944. But: The aircraft that crashed that day wasn't an English one, but an US AF one.
To be specific: Aircrafttype B-17G; AAF S/N 43-38107; Group 493; Sqdn 861.
I've also found that the first pilot was Lt. L.H. Baxter.
I've read that the co-pilot was Lt. Americo S. Galle (who was killed by the SS, I read on the internet).
The things I want to know at this point (and I hope that someone can help me) are:
- Did Lt. L.H. Baxter survive the war?
- How many persons were in the aircraft and what are their names?
- Does anyone know what happened to the persons who were in the aircraft?
I'm very grateful...
With kind regards,
