SSG Omar Snyder 127th Infantry Rgt 1944 Leyte DOW
I am looking for info on my uncle, Omar (Scott) Snyder. He was a SSG assigned to the 127th Infantry Regiment, 32nd Infantry Division. He Died of Wounds on 30 Nov 1944, I believe in the area of breakneck ridge just north of Limon, on Leyte in the Phillipines. I have been told by family that he lost an arm and bled to death. He was from Montana, and left behind a wife and infant son he had never seen. I believe he also was in some New Guinea battles, I just don't have any info. His widow remarried, and any letters were lost long ago. I have only been able to obtain his vet life insurance form, and his enlistment record. Also does anyone know if awards are given to war dead other then purple hearts(Campaigns, etc)?
Any help is appreciated
