Thank you so much for the information concerning the 22nd infantry. I will certainly look in the books you suggest. You must be quite a WWII scholar because I have seen your name in quite a few listings on the message board. My father used to tell us some about his army days, but I've always been unclear as to just where he was when. All the letters to my mom only said, "Somewhere in Europe". I know he spoke of England, France, and Germany, and your info confirms that. My understanding is that they were supposed to go to the Pacific when the war, lucky for us, ended.
