23 May 1945 this B-29 aircraft was lost on mission 181 probably on raids over Tokyo.Information on the various flight crew have been posted under their names.The Pilot was 1/Lt Leonard Hughes KIA, The Co-Pilot was 2/Lt Wm. H. McClure POW. All are posted under their surnames except for 2/Lt Wm. Ryalls and Sgt Clyde Salaz for which there are no forums and are listed on this one.
The ground crew for this plane at Isely Field, Saipan is listed as: Crew Chief M/Sgt Millton F Hull; S/Sgt John F Childs; S/Sgt Richard G Wood; and Cpl Leslie F McCord.
Co-Pilot McClure survived and was a POW at Kempe Tai,Tokyo.Charles W Civiello (no rank or position given) had also been replaced on this flight.
Mission 181 consisted of 558 bombers made up from several Bomb Wings.Seven aircraft were unaccounted for.The scheduled altitude for the mission was listed as 7800-15100 ft.
