Help interpreting Info in NARA Files
A friend and I are trying to find as much as we can about her husband's father.
NARA Enlistment Papers list him: Pvt In Cavalry; Enlisted 1940; Term of Enlistment: Enlistment for the Philippine Department.Does this mean he was going to be serving in the Philippines?
There are also NARA files that indicate he was a POW at Camp Code 063 - Stalag 12A to 9B. Report Date: Dec 2,1944; Last Report date: Apr 10 1945.I read that Stalag 12A was a transition camp.Lists of prisoners of Stalag 9B are listed on some websites but mention is made that "12A to 9B" prisoners are not included. Can someone explain this? Were "12A to 9B" prisoners accounted for differently?
Is it possible that he was sent to the Philippines and then to Europe where he was captured and imprisoned?
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
