Elmer Dattola Jr., 88, of Morgantown, W.Va., formerly of Myrtle Beach, S.C., passed away Wednesday, May 19, 2010, in Morgantown. He was born Sept. 2, 1921, in Verona, to the late Elmer and Victoria Navari Dattola. He was a retired architect. During World War II, Mr. Dattola served in the Army with the Engineer Board Co. 9817th Technical Service Unit. He was a graduate of Carnegie Institute of Technology with a Bachelor of Architecture degree in 1943, and did graduate studies at the University of Rome, Italy, in 1951-1952. Among his interests were sailing, tennis and painting. Survivors include daughter, Paula (Ron) Davidson, of New Jersey; sons, Richard (Cathy) Dattola, of Morgantown, and Christopher (Mary) Dattola, of Cheswick; 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a niece; and four nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ann Kennedy Dattola.
