Re: Vincent Dapsis-194th glider 1945
Hello again, Connie Rossi !!!
So nice to hear from you.
Yes, by all means make application for Vincent's Bronze Star Medal and Ribbon.
Follow these directions, and you will receive the awards in due time:
Route your request to :
9700 Page Blvd.,
St. Louis, MO 63132-5200.
I am not sure exactly what documentation your family retains relative to Vincent's military service, but provide copies of whatever you have, and include a brief statement to provide the following information:
Date of birth
Area of operation: American Theater, European Theater.
(Two medals and ribbons due)
As a member of the 17th Airborne Division, he would have participated in these campaigns:
Rhineland, Ardennes-Alsace, Central Europe.
(European Theater Medal with three bronzecampaign stars due, plus ribbon with 3stars)
The division landed England 24 Dec 44, returned to Boston P/E 15 Sep 45.
Vincent Dapsis was Killed in Action,
23 Mar 45 at Wesel, Germany.
(At least one Order of the Purple Heart due)
Chances are that he would have qualified for the Good Conduct award as well.
I would apply for all of the above. In the remote chance they were previously awarded, it is more than likely that any related records were lost. Apply with the assumption that none were awarded.
If there are other questions, please feel free to contact me.
With best regards,
Please acknowledge so that I may know that this message was received.
