Correct. Operation "Magic Carpet" was organized to get troops home as quickly as possible. The program, however, dealt mainly with individuals, primarily combat veterans, having the requisite number of points for rotation. It didn't apply to occupation troops per se. I've run across several ships that participated; all or most were naval vessels (as opposed to the predominately private steamers that took the troops overseas). I recall that one aircraft carrier transported 20,000 or 30,000 in one trip (many of whom "camped out" on the flight deck the entire trip home). I'll check around and let you know if I come up with anything. I have a private library. If I have what you're looking in my skull or on the shelf it's "on the house". If I have to "go out" for it, this very often involves fees that I have to pass along, but I let you decide in advance.
