On March 7, 1995 I attended the 50th Anniversary of the capture of the Ludendorff Bridge at Remagen. It was a wonderful experience. I went in honor of my late father who crossed the Rhine River at Remagen as a rifleman replacement with the 9th Infantry Division.I traveled to Europe with the 78th Infantry Division Associaton Group. I met a wonderful group of guys. Some are gone now. The ranks of the WWII veterans are rapidly disappearing. A thousand a day! In 15 or 20 years we Vietnam veterans with be rapidly disappearing. Time marches on. But the WWII veterans leave a legacy to this Nation. They stopped the German and Japanese war machine. People do not realize the 'horrors' that might have been if these powers had won the war. All the best and 'thanks' guys!
