A friend is researching a cousin of his who was KIA in Normandy during World War II. Unfortunately, he has very little to go on. My friend believed that William was from Massachusetts, but we didn't find any William Youngs in the World War II Honor Book of Dead and Missing (Army and Army Air Force) for that state. There is a chance that he may have been from Connecticut, and sure enough there are two William Youngs listed from that state in the appropriate Honor Book.
William was about thirty-five years of age and was killed in Normandy around July 17-20, 1944. We have heard that he was an infantryman.
Any information, particularly regarding his unit, would be most appreciated. Perhaps someone with a large collection of division histories can help.
