Co A 862D "ENGR AVN BN"
I'm inquiring as to any information you might be able to give me about the "862nd Engr Avn Bn". I recently purchased a Soldier's Red Cross bag with some contents, including his patch and several rolls of exposed film. I've been able to piece together some information about him, but would like any additional information you may have. He was stationed in Austria and Bavaria. I know he belonged to the 862nd as I have photos from some sort of a briefing room with flags and signs that read "Co A 862D ENGR AVN BN".I don't have the name of this soldier, but perhaps someone else from his battalion would recognize him from the photos I have. I believe he was a sergeant, and flew an A-26B Invader. I have pictures of several planes with their pilots, two of which are called "Late Date" and "Silver Streak".I can email anyone some photos if they think it will be useful. I forgot to mention that the bag is from the Martin County, Florida Red Cross Chapter ( located in Stuart, FL). I also have his patch scanned. Thank you.
