The 104th ID did not participate in the Battle of the Bulge.
That was designated Ardennes-Alsace Campaign.
The dates for that campaign were: 16 Dec 44 / 25 Jan 45.
His division would have been engaged in the Rhineland Campaign at the time of the Ardennes-Alsace Campaign.
The 104th arrived across Utah Beach, France, 7 Sep 44, a month and a half after the Normandy Campaign, which is dated 6 Jun 44 / 24 Jul 44., so was not credited with the Normandy Campaign.
The division was commanded by Major General Terry de la Mesa Allen from Oct 43 until Nov 45.
General Allen is referenced twice in "CITIZEN SOLDIERS, Stephen E. Ambrose, author Simon & Schuster, NYNY, publisher, along with other members of the 104th ID, "The Timberwolf Division". Their motto was "Nothing in Hell will stop the Timberwolves".
I will pass along the Combat Narative for the division tomorrow. OK ?
With continued best regards,
Louie F. Turner.
Beside the Ambrose reference, I strongly endorse and recommend :
WORLD WAR II ORDER of BATTLE, Shelby L. Stanton, author, GALAHAD BOOKS, NYNY, publisher.
