I think it will be a MIRACLE if I could find anyone who may have been landed on the beach at Saipan on June 15, 1944, by my late husband who was a Coxswain, USNR.His name was Verne R. Newman, and piloted the LCM's for the most part.
Otherwise, I would be very happy to find anyone else who took part in that battle, who could possibly give me some first-hand knowledge of how things were.
I'm trying to put together a picture of Verne's war experiences. He only said a few words about things when he was alive.
I've regretted not getting him to write down his memories or even make a tape cassette.
TIP:If you have a family member who is still with us, try to get something, even a tape cassette, which could then be transcribed. If you still have someone, you are lucky, because so many of them are gone.
Many thanks for any replies.Dorothy Newman firstname.lastname@example.org
