Re: Donald Edwill Vaughan ???
Greetings, Martha C. Vaughn !
I posted question marks after the subject's name, for I am unable to locate any victim by that name who was buried abroad in an American dedicated cemetery.
There are 50 VAUGHNs listed at
but none match that name.
Of the 50, only one, GEORGE A. VAUGHN, was killed in Aug-44. That person died
8-15-1944,and is buried at the American Cemetery at Normandy, France.
Is there any chance that you may have the wrong name ?
Staff Sgt. GEORGE A. VAUGHN entered service from TN, and was in the 117th Infantry Regiment,30th Infantry Division.
The 30th ID participated in the Normandy*, Northern France, Rhineland*, Ardennes-Alsace and Central Europe campaigns.
(* represents the only possible campaigns he could have been in due to his death in
The division was in the vicinity of Mortain,
France, 11 Aug 44.
Let me know if any of this fits your man, and I'll see what else I can come up with.OK?
With best regards,
