My brother, William Sherman Hanson, was stationed in Ft. Jackson, SC, for his basic in 1943. One of the pictures taken at basic has written on the back "Part of 61 MM Mortar Sec." On Sept. 18, 1944 he shipped overseas with the destination of European Theatre. He was a squad leader 653 and military qualfications was Combat Infantryman. He was wounded at Rhineland. His discharge papers state--Rhineland Go 40 WD 45.Now my question!!!I have his Regimental Crest which shows a shield of dark blue with a red star that a upright mortar shell in the center.Super imposed over this is the Letter V. At the bottom is the phrase--"IT WILL BE DONE".Can someone give me some information about this crest?
