Greetings, Katie Olson !
Your father was in one of three Infantry Regiments (393rd,
395th,395th), plus other elements, all of which were a part of the 99th Infantry Division, under the First Army.
The division entered combat 9 Nov 44, and was on the line
151 days, during which it lost 993 Killed in Action, 4,177 Wounded in Action and 141 Died from Wounds, for a casualty rate of 40%.
He would have participated in two campaigns:
Rhineland, 15 Sep 44 / 21 Mar 45
Ardennes-Alsace, 16 Dec 44 / 25 Jan 45.
I am forwarding an outline which describes the division organization, and locations for various operations.
Please feel free to contact me if needed. OK ?
Hope this helps a little at least.
