Smith James Reese - 115th INF REGT, 29th INF DIV
My uncle, Smith James Reese was a member of this company during World War II. He was killed in action on September 3, 1944 somewhere in France.
I have a copy of the 115th's after action report for the month of September 1944 and a short bibliography on the 115th's involvement in the Brest Campaign. But all this information is of a general nature. I would like to find some more specific information on Company "I". I would like to find someone who was in "I" Company during the war.
I would also like to know the answers to the following questions. How many battalions comprized the 115th? How many companies were in each battalion? In which battalion was "I" Company located? Does anyone know where I can obtain shoulder patches for the 29th INF DIV and the 115th INF REGT? How about the rank insignia for a T/Sgt?
My mother is now 80 years old and would be very happy to read about her brother. The last time she saw him was when he was buried at Woodlawn National Cemetery in July of 1949.
I would like to thank everyone in advance for any information they might be able to share.
