615 A.A.A. - Need info by 11/1/01!
The Mayor of the City of Keene, New Hampshire, has appointed a committee to honor local WWII veterans at the 60th anniversary of our entry into the war.As part of the activities, storefront window displays are being set up next week, and the committee is being lent memorabilia by local citizens.
One such item lent, just received, is a pith helmet worn by someone who was in Panama during the war.On the front of the helmet has been handwritten "615 A.A.A."There also is a shield on the helmet, with the top right 1/3 royal blue, the bottom left half red, with a gold lightning bolt running top left to bottom right of shield.Does anyone know what kind of helmet this is?
If so, how would I describe the unit to the uninformed onlooker?Thank you for your help.
