24th Armored Divison, Co A
I would love information related to my father, William H Sprouse who served WWII. He enlisted 3 Dec 1941, I have separation papers for him, Technician Fourth Grade, Company A, 216th Armored Engineer Battalion, October 20, 1945. Assisted in construction of barracks, buildings and bridges.Performed duties in US, England, France and Germany.
A commendation letter from G.S. Patton, Jr, Lieut. General, John Millikin, Major General and Hugh J Gaffey, Major General.A picture in a 4 page news article "Chapel Chimes" (Jul 15, 1945) of the Division Officers School he was attending at Offenstetten, Bavaria. It has a history of the castle written by the wife of present owner.General Elisenhower and General Montgomery are pictured on the front page.
Also a reprint from Watertown (New York) Daily Times (15 Oct 1944) re: 4th Armored Divison being called "Supermen" by the Germens. They came out of Pine Camp, New York. I also have his year book of Pine Camp.He re-enlisted 20 Oct 1945 and was discharged Oct 1948.
