"Battle Babies" Magazines
I am in the process of transcribing my late father's wartime letters and V-mail for a web site, but I have run across some terminology that needs clarification.
In one V-mail he mentioned "Battle Babies," which were US magazines without advertising. Were these smaller in size than the normal magazines of the day? For example, if the US edition of Time magazine measured about 8 1/2 by 11 inches, did they produce an overseas edition that was closer in size to today's TV Guide or perhaps a paperback book?
