Originally constituted in the Army of the United States as 104th Coast Artillery Battalion (Antiaircraft) (Automatic Weapons), organized at Birmingham, Alabama 10 February 1941. Redesignated 104th Antiaircraft (Automatic Weapons) Battalion June 1944. Overseas February 1942. Arrived Australia (via Atlantic & Indian Oceans) March 1942. New Guinea August 1943. Goodenough Island (now Rarotonga), Cook Islands October 1943. Returned to New Guinea April 1944. Landed in the Philippines June 1945. Participated East Indies, New Guinea and Luzon Campaigns. Battalion inactivated in Japan in January 1946. How any of the above applies to your man depends on his dates of service with the battalion.
