Re: Island of TRUK - WWII
Truk, a group of islands in the Eastern Caroline Islands, was a major Japanese Naval Base. It was decided early in the war that its capture would be too costly - if not impossible - so it was
by-passed but subjected to almost continuous aerial and naval bombardment through the end of the war.
A list of casualties could presumably be compiled from the records of all air units and ships that participated in each and every attack on Truk during the war. Such an undertaking would be incredibly tedious - and expensive.
