U.S.Navy Amphibious Force, Pacific Is.
I would like to find veterans of WWII who were in the U.S. Naval Amphibious Forces. My husband was in the Pacific Island assaults On the Gilberts, Marshalls, and the Marianas (especially Saipan, June, 1944). He was taken ill and put aboard the Samaritan hospital ship.Although he was on several ships, the main one was U.S.S. Calvert. His training was in San Diego and Pearl Harbor, and his name was Verne R. Newman, Coxswain.I would really like to communicate with any one who may have been in that area, possibly find pictures. Please write me at my own e-mail, firstname.lastname@example.orgThanks so much.
