Thanks for the offer of a lookup, but I know where my Grandad is buried. My Nan was one of the lucky ones - she was kept up to date & received a photo of his grave with a wooden cross on it after his body was recovered.
In the late 1980's, she & my Mum went to France & saw the grave. My Nan always said that she wanted to go just once, so that she could say goodbye properly. She's almost 87 now, but still finds it hard - she keeps my Grandad's photo in a drawer because she finds it difficult to look at without crying. Sad, isn't it ? Even after all this time.
I applied for his service records back in June, but I'm stillwaiting for them ! You're supposed to get them within 3 months, but just my luck, I'm still waiting. They must have quite a back log to get through. The lady I spoke to assured me I'd get them by Christmas, so here's hoping !!
