Information on Clyde Huston - K.I.A. Okinawa
I'm looking for information on Clyde Huston (pfc ?) 1st. Marine Division killed in action on
Okinawa, April 4, 1945.Clyde was a close neighbor of mine, and I grew up with his kids.
I have lost touch with the family.I always wondered what the circumstances of his death
were. I just finished reading the book "With the Old Breed at Peleliu and Okinawa," by
Eugene B. Sledge. In one section, the author (who experienced combat on both islands)
mentions a situation on Okinawa on April 4, in which Company K, 7th Marines was
ambushed near the village of Hisaonna. He states that 3 marines were killed and 27
wounded. His (author) unit Company K, 5th Marines, up to that point, had met with no
resistance.I wondered when I read that paragraph, whether Clyde was one of those 3
unfortunate Marines.I realize that this is a shot in the dark(no pun intended), but if you
have pertinent info., I would like to hear from you.
