Re: Captain Noeh Sorrell
Any one have any information on my great uncle - Captain Noeh Sorrell, U.S. Army, Infantry, WWII, Phillipine Islands, Manilla? He was stationed in the Manilla area prior to the Japanese invasion. Fought with the locals throughout the war.He was captured three different times, escaped twice. When captured the third time, he was used for bayonet practice by the Japanese soldiers, yet survived!Brought back to the States after the war.Died two years later in the VA hospital in Gainsville, FL. He didn't die from his war wounds, but died of TB.He was a "runt" but tough! He also was a WWI veteran. His sister, Fannie Sorrell, who married Henry Jacob Wilkes, was my grandmother on my mother's side of the family.Noeh is burried in the Sardis Primitive Baptist church cemetery near Berlin, GA.
