A few problems here.
There was no 111th Airborne in Europe.There was the 101st which served from Normandy throught to the end of hostilities.The 101 was disbanded. Many short-timers were transfered to other outfits, such as the 82nd, which pulled occupation duty in Berlin.
Many more men were transfered to the 11th Airborne which was the Airborne Division of note in the Pacific Theater. The 11th pulled occupation duty in Japan.
