Battle info on the 135th Infantry Regiment- Italy
My uncle Lawrence Williamson was a Private in the 34th Infantry Division 135th Infantry Regiment Company F during 1943. He left Camp Robinson, Ark (with the 262/66th during training from Camp Blanding Fla) sometime in Sept 1943 and joined up with the 34th/135th, I believe, in Sicily. Last letter received from him on 7 Nov '43 indicated he was in Italy and was "finally assigned" to Company F. My research indicates that the 135th relieved the 168th on Monte Pantano Dec 3/4 '43 and was being relieved by the British 2nd Morracan during 8/9 Dec '43. General battle comments indicate heavy shelling received during that period. Family recollections indicate he was KIA while "guarding a supply depot". Offical telegram received indicated he was KIA 9 Dec '43.
Other than the general references to the Mt Pantano battle is anyone out there aware of any "offical battle" reports during the period 30 Nov '43 - 10 Dec "43, and specific to the 135th Infantry Regiment Company F?
Any information would be appreciated, especially links to research sites.
Thank you, Gary S Williamson
