My Grandfather, T-5 Raymond Sheldon Slayback, Ser # 35 705 751 fought in the CBI theater from 11 Jan 1943 to 29 Aug 45. (he died in 1947).His WD AGO Form 53.55 states he was assigned to the 61st (Transportation Corps) TC Railway Operations Company. He was a truck driver.
In researching this unit I have found nothing about the 61st'sinvolvement in the CBI since all CBI ROB's had 3 digit identifiers. (I'm wondering if this 61st was his unit upon return to the US)
Research shows most supply depots and quartermaster functions were centered around the Assam province (now Bangledesh). The few pictures I have show him on the Ledo Road, which would support this statement.
The archives at St. Louis were of no assistance so If anyone has knowledge of any of the above information I would love to hear from you.
