My father never received the purple heart due to him after the war as there was some problem with them being behind on getting them and also the fact that he didn't want to go thru the paper shuffle to get it. He said it was his second purple heart, the first being lost during the war. Are you able to get these purple hearts at this late a date? Would they have the name of the soldier on it as my fathers good conduct medal has? I know he had malaria and Yellow fever or jaundice, but he never said he was wounded. Would you get a purple heart for any other reason other than wounds?
I also have my fathers stripes and bars and insigniasoff of his uniform. One long 4 inch stripped bar has 4 tiny stars and what looks like an arrow head. Would anyone know what they stand for? He served in the 127th, 32nd, Red Arrow.
